Nú er húsið mitt, heimili til nær tíu ára, selt. Það er eftirsjá nú þegar og ég enn ekki flutt út. En það var skynsamlegt að selja, enda húsið of stórt þar sem börn eru uppkomin og farin að búa til sín eigin hreiður. Hús þarf einnig stöðugt viðhald og ég hefði viljað fara í endurbætur á baðherbergjum, mála og slípa gólfefni og hvítta loft. Við höfum mörgu breytt og það sé ég helst við skoðun gamalla mynda. Eldhúsið algerlega endurgert sem og bakgarðurinn. Við hvítmáluðum furu gluggana, hurðirnar og stigann. Stúdíó íbúð var gerð á jarðhæð með skemmtilegu litlu baðherbergi. Svo vissulega höfum við ekki setið auðum höndum þessi ár.
Þrátt fyrir að ég syrgi það að fara héðan þá gleður það mig líka að húsið muni fyllast af lífi lítilla barna en kaupendur eru ung hjón með tvo gríslinga. Þetta er ekta fjölskylduhús og vona ég að þau munu öll finna sömu hlýju frá þessu húsi og við höfum gert.
My own house for almost ten years has now been sold. A tough decision but a wise one. It was too big for us with the kids now starting their own nest building. A house needs constant work that takes the time we don’t have. I wanted to redo the bathrooms and polish floors and whiten ceilings to mention a few upcoming projects. We have, however, done a lot to the house already. The kitchen was totally redone, as well as the tiny studio apartment on the ground floor, the backyard too and yellowed pine windows, doors and stairs were painted white. But I leave the house in good hands of a young couple with two kids. I hope the house will provide the same warmth to them as it has to us.
